The First Large-Scale Single-Axis Tracker Application in China
Recently, Renjie Intelligent successfully signed a procurement contract for cleaning robots for the Three Gorges New Energy Weishan Xiaobuwan 50 MW project. This marks China’s first large-scale single-axis tracking photovoltaic power station project to apply cleaning robots. Renjie Intelligent will supply 521 cleaning robots for the project, covering 38.2 MW of photovoltaic modules.

The photovoltaic power station is located in Weishan County, Shandong Province, with a total capacity of 50 MW. It is part of Jining City’s photovoltaic “Top Runner” project in coal mining subsidence areas. There are many coal washing plants around the site, resulting in severe dust impact on the power station and an urgent need for module cleaning. In the early stage, manual cleaning was adopted for operation and maintenance, but the results were unsatisfactory and easily caused damage to modules and other equipment. As the project is equipped with multiple mounting structures, including single-axis trackers, floating systems, and fixed structures, the layout is complex and requires high safety standards, posing challenges to the system design, arrangement, and construction of cleaning robot equipment.

In mid-May 2020, Renjie Intelligent deployed prototype cleaning robots at the site. After one year of operation, the robots have run stably, performing cleaning tasks daily according to preset strategies. The communication system and management platform have operated normally, enabling real-time monitoring of robot status and daily power generation data. According to statistics, since the installation of cleaning robots, the annual comprehensive power generation has increased by over 14%.

In the subsequent large-scale application of the project, Renjie Intelligent fully considered the scenario of “water surface + ground” combined with the design requirements of “fixed + tracking” mounting structures. By studying the project’s difficulties and pain points, Renjie tailored a stable and reliable intelligent cleaning robot solution for the customer. The MW-level application of cleaning robots on single-axis trackers in this project is the first of its kind in China. With strong technical capabilities, reliable products, and excellent service assurance, Renjie Intelligent stood out and won the project.
