【Introduction】
On March 25, 2020, the online expert seminar on the “Technical Specification for Dry Cleaning Robots for Photovoltaic Modules” was successfully held. This standard will fill the regulatory gap in the application of cleaning robots in the photovoltaic sector and contribute to the advancement of robotic technology as well as the rapid and standardized development of the industry.
Photovoltaic Cleaning Robot
1. Background and Significance
Against the backdrop of substantial reductions in photovoltaic subsidies, the issue of power generation losses caused by dust accumulation has attracted increasing attention. With the rapid development of robotics and automation technologies, photovoltaic cleaning robots have emerged as an effective solution, and robotic cleaning has gradually become a mature operation and maintenance model for photovoltaic power stations. Currently, photovoltaic cleaning robots offer numerous technical advantages, including timely and efficient operation, non-damaging cleaning, strong mobility, adaptability to multiple scenarios, posture control, AI-based intelligent decision-making, and multiple safety protection mechanisms. At the same time, they help photovoltaic power stations reduce operation and maintenance costs while improving power generation efficiency.

However, due to the lack of dedicated standards, there has been no clear basis for evaluating key concerns of owners and O&M providers, such as safety, quality, effectiveness, and efficiency. To address these needs, the China General Certification Center (CGC), together with Hefei Renjie Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., an enterprise within Sungrow’s ecological chain, jointly drafted the “Technical Specification for Dry Cleaning Robots for Photovoltaic Modules.” The standard aims to resolve the absence of industry norms and promote the application of robotic technology in photovoltaic power station operation and maintenance.
2. Standard Review and Discussion
Through the joint efforts of all parties involved, the drafting of the “Technical Specification for Dry Cleaning Robots for Photovoltaic Modules” was successfully completed. Due to the impact of the pandemic, the seminar was held online. The meeting invited 19 experts from 14 organizations, including the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Sun Yat-sen University Solar Energy Research Institute (Shunde), Xiexin New Energy, Chint New Energy, PowerChina, Eleventh Design Institute, LONGi Green Energy, Jinko Power, State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), China Three Gorges New Energy, China Energy Group, Guangfa New Energy, and Guangxi Xijiang Environmental Energy. Under the guidance of the expert group leader, Mr. Wang Sicheng from the Energy Research Institute of the NDRC, the participants engaged in in-depth discussions. The drafting team gained a comprehensive understanding of user requirements and application scenarios, laying a solid foundation for the standard’s advancement, practicality, and rigor.
